INDIE TOYS AR in Buenos Aires, Argentina (Sep 23rd) #eventreport

For the first time ever, the emerging scene of Argentine Toy Artists made a Group Exhibition in Buenos Aires. The show was named INDIE TOYS AR and it was held in the exhibition hall of Universidad de Palermo. César Zanardi shared with us that about 300 people gathered to see the pieces in a huge variety of styles and materials! The event was co-organized by Bombermat Toys (whose work is showcased directly below), and was sponsored by Posca Markers, included some live painting of resin Cerritos by Martín Varbaro and César himself.

From the images seen in the slideshow video featured above, it looks to be a pretty immersive event, an “appreciation of art”, at the same time “living the scene”, as it were, which to me looks to be a great way to introduce new folks to the scene, and as well celebrate and have the artists showcase their art - versus the commercially fuelled conventions featuring art-for-sale - which is all fine and dandy in it’s own context, or course!

Sat in the middle of the hall was a blank Jumbo Cerrito awaited to be customized/vandalized by the public in a collective painting. This has become a de rigueur form of promotions and interaction that has seen success in large scaled events like AFA where folks doodle on (regulated) walls. César added; “Nice music, great spring evening and crazy atmosphere for this first experience that will have a second part in 2017.”
