organic @ anime festival asia 2008
The ORGANIC [www] display at Toys N Toys' arena @ Anime Festival Asia 2008 [tagged] saw a variety of character figures both large and mini - from varied licenses on show. From the 30cm-huge Hitman Reborn figures to the petite-5cm Secret Society of Eagle Talon minis - I'd snapped my fill of pics, and surfed quite a long while online searching for product info (I'd neglected to check if there was an Organic-Rep on hand at AFA08, and neither were product literature available that I know of). On display top-shelf were two huge figures tagged HITMAN REBORN - based on characters from a weekly manga in JUMP; REBORN! but "baby-fied" (heh). Standing between 28-30cm tall, these baby-fied adaption-figures have a SRP of ¥ 8,190 for a late-December drop. (Figures come with figure-base).
TRE-IMPRESSIONS: I sorta get the hat-wearing Wacko-Jacko-lookalike with a gecko ("Lambo"), but am lost with the duder in the cow-suit-n-'fro - but he looks fun, so tis cool LOL
THE SECRET SOCIETY (Of) EAGLE TALON mini PVC-figures sees a series of 6 figures featuring Yoshida in various poses/guises, and Doctor Leonard in regular and all-white colors (from DLE) - including a "mystery" figure revealed at AFA08 to be a Panda Doctor Leonard. Standing 5cm tall with a SRP of ¥ 525 - these blind-boxed figures have a late-November release date.
TRE-IMPRESSIONS: They be cool, even if I am not thoroughly familiar with the animation or characters. Tis the simplicity that somewhat appeals to me personally. Look out for a DLE-specific booth-report in another AFA08-blogpost with more Eagle Talon products :p
LOONEY TUBES LAB is a series of 6 character figures (baby-fied) based on the Warner Bros cartoons. Designed by play set products, these 5cm tall PVC mini-figures come blind-boxed @ ¥ 525 each, with a late-December drop-schedule.
(I have no info on these figures tagged FELIX ONE HUNDRED SERIES tho :p)
The trio of KUMA3 figures in Pink, Green and Blue seemed flocked and were wearing fabric-clothing. Based on the YomiuriTV animated television series ATTACKED KUMA3 - the PVC (base-form) figures stand 12cm tall, with a SRP of ¥ 2,625, and had a September-2008 release-date.
And standing (partially hidden) behind KUMA3 was a standard-red 16cm tall KOEDALIEN. Created by illustrator Noriya Takeyama - "the girl of the poison mushroom" has been released (since Sept?) in 5 colorways, including the Harajuku edition. SRP was ¥ 2,835.
TRE-IMPRESSIONS: Both KUMA3 and Koedalien were just about the ONLY "urban-vinyl-looking" product found in AFA08! (Much less "kaiju", which literally had ZERO representation, but that's another blogpost altogether). Really liked to have seen (and even "own" :p) the Koedalien a little bit closer tho (sucks to have sucky-camera with lack of crisp digital-zooms = FAIL).
Also on display were DIA BLOCK figures (looked like a cross between Playmobil-faces and Mini-Mates-bodies) - each blind-boxed ABS-made keychain / handphone-strap articulated figure stands 4cm tall with a SRP of ¥ 420. Different series had different icons/logos/images on their body-fronts.
TRE-REMARKS: The items posted here were seen from the top and from the bottom of the shelf-display. There were actually two more shelves in-between which I had not taken snaps off, becoz they weren't as interesting to me LOL (sorry folks, I slacketh). Would've really helped a noob like me if there were a Brand-Rep present to answer my myriad-questions (*cough*) - or perhaps there was but I'd not have the opportunity to look for one. heh.
